Sunday Dech

Making the move to Cairns after spending the 2025-26 season in Perth, Sunday Dech will reunite with Adam Forde as he joins the Taipans.

First working with the 2023 Coach of the Year at the East Perth Eagles, the forward has developed over the decade since to become one of the most highly regarded defenders in the league.

Initially entering the NBL with his hometown Wildcats as a development player, Dech returned to the Perth club after his college stint before spending a season with Illawarra.

Making the move to Adelaide in 2020, the forward became a key piece within the club and spent five seasons in South Australia, before a return to Perth in 2025.

Not only dominating on the court at the NBL level, Dech has represented South Sudan on the international stage, and formed part of the country’s lineup at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
