Will Lopez steps into the Lead Assistant role for the Kenfrost Homes Cairns Taipans across the 2025-26 season, marking his fifth season with the Taipans.

The son of former Bankstown Bruin Peter Lopez, Will’s journey started at Lees-McRae College in the US, first as a student-athlete and before joining the coaching ranks.

Returning home, he led Bankstown’s skills and development program, mentoring over 400 junior players and 25 coaches, before being appointed Basketball NSW High Performance Head Coach.

After moving to Cairns in 2021, Lopez has been central to the club’s NBL1 pathway and coached both the Cairns Marlins and Dolphins, bringing knowledge and insight to every session.
