Biography

Michael Lake joined the Kenfrost Homes Cairns Taipans as an Assistant Coach for the 2025-26 season, bringing a strong development pedigree from his time with Baksetball Queensland and his three seasons with the Adelaide 36ers.

Previously worked with the Brisbane Bullets as a development squad coach and video analyst, Lake then helped run Basketball Queensland’s player development platform while coaching at the Southwest Metro Pirates.

Leading Queensland South to the 2022 Under-18s National title, he then returned to the NBL to oversee the 36ers’ academy program before stepping up as an assistant in late 2023.

Also spending two years as NBL1 Southern Tigers Head Coach, Lake further developed his coaching pedigree, which is equal parts teacher, tactician and talent identifier.
