Taipans to tip-off NBL Cup

The CQUniversity Cairns Taipans will tip-off the inaugural NBL Cup competition on Saturday 20 February, with fixtures released this morning. In less than two weeks, all teams will travel to Melbourne to play against each other once, with a cash prize of $150, 000 for first place.
 
The competition will consist of 18 double-headers at either John Cain Arena or the State Basketball Centre with all 36 games to count towards the overall season record.
 
The winner of the NBL Cup will be determined by a separate ladder with three points to be awarded for a win and an extra point awarded for each quarter won across the 36 games held.

All games commencing prior to 6:30pm AEST will be broadcast live on SBS Viceland, SBS on Demand, NBL TV & Twitch. All games with a tip-off time after 6:30pm will be broadcast live on ESPN.

With the updated Round 5 schedule that will see the Taipans travelling to play United at Bendigo Basketball Stadium on Saturday 13 February, the team are unable to return to Cairns and will remain in Melbourne until the conclusion of the NBL Cup.
