The CQUniversity Cairns Taipans announce they have signed Marshall Nelson as an injury replacement player, filling in for Scott Machado for the next 2-3 weeks.
Originally from WA, the 27-year old recently suited up for the Perth Redbacks in the NBL1 West, where he averaged 20.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists in the 2021 season.
The former Illawarra Hawks development player was signed to their NBL roster in 2019 and averaged 6.5 minutes for 2.4 points and 1.3 rebounds across 14 games.
Nelson has arrived in Cairns and will suit up in the New Year’s Eve game against the Perth Wildcats at the Cairns Convention Centre, tip-off 7:00pm.
Robbie Heath will also be in the Taipans line-up tomorrow, replacing Mirko Djeric (calf) who joins Machado on the sidelines. Development player Brayden Inger returns and will be available to play.
