The Kenfrost Homes Cairns Taipans and Kyrin Galloway have agreed to their mutual option, which will see the 204cm forward remain in Far North Queensland for the upcoming 2025-26 NBL season.
Entering his sixth season in the league, the 25-year-old is coming off a career-best campaign which saw him elevated to the Taipans starting unit five times – including the team’s memorable 108-105 win in Illawarra.
The American-Australian joined the NBL from the University of North Carolina, where he averaged 8.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and a conference-leading 1.7 blocks in his senior year. He first joined the New Zealand Breakers as a development player, before he relocated to South Australia for 2022-23.
During his first season in Adelaide, Galloway had career-highs of 23 points and nine boards, working his way into the starting line-up before the end of the year. He helped the 36ers close out the season with a 5-2 record and was named the club’s Most Improved Player.
Galloway made the move to Cairns in 2024 to play for Adam Forde – launching into his best campaign in the NBL to date.
Completing the first half of the season as one of the most efficient shooters from outside the arc, he reached double-digit scoring nine times and had a four-block performance in Round 17, with only five other players in the league blocking more shots in a single game.
Reaching 30 blocks across the 2024-25 competition, “KG” also improved from the seventh to the fourth most blocks during the season – despite averaging just under 20 minutes per game.
This off-season, Galloway signed his first international contract outside of Oceania - joining the Iwate Big Bulls in Japan’s B3 League. Regularly surpassing 10 rebounds per game, he is also averaging 13 points, 1.3 blocks and 1.6 steals, with the Big Bulls going 5-3 since his arrival.
Galloway joins Alex Higgins-Titsha and Kody Stattmann on the Taipans roster - are you next? The Taipans' early bird membership sale is only available until Monday 31st March! Get the biggest discount of the year and secure your seats HERE.
