Kenfrost Homes Cairns Taipans forward Jack McVeigh will again wear the green and gold, as the Australian Boomers head west to face Guam and the Philippines for the World Cup Qualifiers in Perth.
Last representing his country at the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup, his return to the lineup will help prepare the side for the 2027 FIBA World Cup in Qatar.
Defeating New Zealand twice in November then securing wins in Guam and the Philippines earlier in the year, the Boomers will have the chance to undefeated across the opening round of the Asian Qualifiers, with Olympian McVeigh ready to lead them into battle.
Already securing their position in the second round of qualification in March when Reyne Smith suited up for his country, their final games of opening portion of the event will prove useful as they prepare to fight for one of seven spots in the World Cup reserved for Asia.
Earning his first callup to the national level in 2019 for the World Cup Qualifiers, McVeigh’s week in Perth will seek him reach 17 appearances for his country, including four Olympic and six Asia Cup games.
McVeigh will line up alongside former Taipans Keanu Pinder and Taran Armstrong when the Boomers take to the court on July 3 and 6 at RAC Arena in Perth.
