Overview

Entering his fourth season in the NBL, the NCAA championship winner is returning for his second campaign for his home town.

After growing up in Cairns and representing Australia at the Under-17 and Under-19 FIBA World Cups, Stattmann had a terrific four-year career at the University of Virginia including winning a national championship as a freshman.

Returning home to play with the Marlins in the NBL1 North in 2022, he then went on to begin his professional career as a development player with the Brisbane Bullets in 2022-23, before joining the South East Melbourne Phoenix the following season.

Growing as his time in Victoria continued, the guard earned four starts across 16 appearances, with a high of 16 points and six rebounds coming in the Phoenix’s win over the Kings.

Returning home ahead of the 2024-25 season, Stattmann impressed the Taipans at the club’s open gym day to earn himself a development player spot last season and will join the roster ahead of the upcoming campaign.
