LAST MEETING
These Taipans have the edge over the JackJumpers, winning the series 2-1 in the regular season. The last meeting was won by the visitors 85-77 at the Cairns Convention Centre, but it was an ugly affair full of turnovers and lead changes. Bul Kuol and DJ Hogg had 17 apiece, but it wasn’t enough to close out the game.
LOOK FOR
A three-point party. Cairns and Tasmania both shoot well from range against each other, with the Taipans shooting at 50 per cent in their first game against them, followed up by 41 per cent in the second outing. The third game, the Taipans lost and only managed 8-22 from three, which they won’t look to be repeating.
LINE-UP
Both teams will be missing key pieces – with Keanu Pinder out with an orbital eye fracture and as fate would have it, Josh Magette is out with a similar injury. The JackJumpers have also said Clint Steindl will be a game-time decision.
LATEST WORDS
“We needed momentum. And momentum means a couple of things, right? Obviously, the win [in Perth] because we’ve had our injuries and been a bit hit and miss. Momentum also just for the guys to get a bit of touch, to rotate into our bench. I think Jonah was great, Lat was great, Jok was great, Ben… everyone that stepped up off the bench. The momentum ticked a lot of boxes. We can use that,” – Head Coach Adam Forde
“Clearly, we can all come into a game and make an impact. I think everyone did their job tonight [against Perth] which makes me really happy. Like Fordey said, Jonah came in, started the game, played big. He didn’t get all of the shots he wanted but he did everything else. He didn’t stop playing defence. He stopped trying to rebound the ball. Lat did the same thing. Joky came in and was a big spark for us – 14 and 11. Big rebounds. Everyone can come in and do something, which makes us a better team,” – Shannon Scott
