Taipans take Darwin

CQUniversity Cairns Taipans fans will get a preview of their first home game for the 2022-23 NBL season at the NBL Blitz next month, when they face the Perth Wildcats to start their pre-season campaign.
 
This year’s NBL Blitz will take place in the Northern Territory from 16 – 23 September, with the Taipans playing in three games against the Wildcats, Bullets and JackJumpers at the Darwin Basketball Association.
 
As previous Blitz tournaments, teams accrue points for winning individual quarters as well as points for winning the game. The winning side is awarded the Loggins-Bruton Cup, while the most outstanding player will take home the Ray Borner Medal.
 
All games are available to watch via Kayo Freebies (no credit card details required) and can be accessed by downloading the Kayo Sports app and creating an account.
 
The Taipans begin official pre-season training on Monday 8 August and have one remaining restricted (import) player to sign.

Competition Rules

• Games are worth a maximum of 7 points
• 3 points are awarded to the winning team
• 1 point is awarded to the side that wins each quarter
• In the event a quarter is tied, both teams receive half a point
