Kody Stattmann has torn his right hamstring and will be out of action for this weekend’s Round 7 double-header and will be replaced by development player Lloyd McVeigh. He is due to return next week, against Illawarra.
In another major blow for Cairns, Alex Higgins-Titsha has been nursing a wrist injury since the Round 2 game against the Brisbane Bullets. While initially managed, it has progressively worsened and a recent MRI revealed the ligament requires surgery. The recovery period is expected to be up to four months, and it is unlikely he will be available before the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.
Higgins-Tisha's replacement will be announced soon, while Lachlan Barker remains the nominated injury replacement for last year's club MVP Sam Waardenburg.
Meanwhile, Jack McVeigh (wrist) has made the road trip and will return to the active roster.
The Kenfrost Homes Cairns Taipans take on the Brisbane Bullets at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Thursday 6:30pm AEST, before travelling to Tasmania and facing the JackJumpers at the Silverdome on Sunday 4:30pm AEST.
