The Kenfrost Homes Cairns Taipans announce Tanner Groves will be a game day decision tomorrow in Melbourne, against the Phoenix.
Groves hurt his calf in Round 3 (against Tasmania) and his recovery has taken longer than expected, with his return-to-play date extended again in Round 6.
The American forward has travelled and will be a game day decision tomorrow afternoon, however the team will be bolstered by Taran Armstrong's long-awaited return.
Armstrong will suit up for just his third game this season, after suffering an ankle injury in Melbourne on October 6.
Development player Alex Higgins-Titsha will also make the road trip, while Deshon Taylor (injury replacement for Pedro Bradshaw) is expected to make his Taipans debut.
Cairns will face South East Melbourne at John Cain Arena on Sunday, 1:30pm live on Channel 10 and ESPN.
