The CQUniversity Cairns Taipans’ flagship New Year’s Eve fixture has been confirmed for the upcoming 2022-23 season, with the full NBL schedule being released on Monday morning.
The hottest NYE tickets in town will be when the Taipans host the Adelaide 36ers at the Cairns Convention Centre with a 7:00pm tip-off, setting up the perfect Saturday evening before midnight fireworks on the Esplanade.
Taipans CEO Mark Beecroft said that he was excited for fans and partners to get a full regular season schedule for the first time after two COVID-impacted years.
“We are really looking forward to the NBL schedule dropping in its entirety on Monday, and hope that our staff, sponsors and supporters mark up their calendars to ensure they get to every home game this season. It’s time to make the Cairns Convention Centre the fortress it once was,” he said.
“Before COVID, I think we all took for granted the ability to plan for six months in advance, but we finally have a sense of normalcy again. We cannot wait to take our game night entertainment to another level and welcome the return of club events that we have not been able to deliver in recent years.”
As in previous seasons, it is expected that the NYE fixture will sell-out. Fans are recommended to lock in their memberships from Monday (online or in-store) or wait to secure single-game tickets when available at the end of September.
The Taipans will play 14 home and 14 away games as usual during the regular season, with the popular Open Air Game in Melbourne also confirmed for when the Taipans visit United on Friday 23 December.
The 2022-23 Hungry Jack’s NBL season will tip-off at in October and be broadcast live on ESPN via Kayo and Foxtel, with selected games available on free-to-air 10 Peach.
