The CQUniversity Cairns Taipans have embarked for their first NBL game of the year, and after a long 25-day break will face the South East Melbourne Phoenix tomorrow in Traralgon, Victoria.
Scott Machado (heel) has not yet returned from injury and replacement player Marshall Nelson will travel in his place, while Mirko Djeric (calf) will also remain in Cairns.
Due to not passing his medical, Kouat Noi has also not travelled as a precaution under the extended COVID waiver.
Tahjere McCall incurred an injury during game day shootaround on New Year’s Eve but will return to the active roster tomorrow.
The Taipans take on the Phoenix tomorrow night, 6:30pm on ESPN / KAYO Sport before hosting the Illawarra Hawks on Saturday at the Cairns Convention Centre, 4:30pm. Get tickets here.
