After being based on the Gold Coast for the past two years, the 2025 NBL Blitz will be hosted in Canberra.
Seeing each team compete in two games each starting from Wednesday August 27, the annual pre-season tournament will see five days of non-stop action at the recently refurbished AIS Arena ahead of the 2025-26 NBL season.
NBL Group CEO David Stevenson
“We are grateful for the strong support from the ACT Government, our NBL Clubs, Basketball ACT and AIS Arena for making this event possible.
“We can't wait to deliver five days of exhilarating basketball for our passionate fans, who are truly the heartbeat of our league and whose enthusiasm always makes the Blitz a highlight of our pre-season."
Last visiting the nation’s capital in 2019 when they faced the Illawarra Hawks, the Kenfrost Homes Cairns Taipans will face both the Tasmania JackJumpers and New Zealand Breakers at the tournament.

Taking to the court for their first game at 8:00pm on Thursday August 28, they’ll face the Tasmanians to close out the second day of action, before returning to action on Sunday August 31 at 6:00pm to face the Breakers in the final game of the tournament.
NBL Chief Operations Officer and Head of Basketball Operations, Vince Crivelli
“Canberra basketball has an amazing history with the NBL, and most significantly as the Cannons winning three championships in 1983, 1984 and 1988, so we are delighted to be back hosting elite NBL competition here.”
