July: President's Address

To all of our fans, who have been very patiently waiting for us this off-season:
It was requested at the Town Hall Meeting last month that we provide updates – even if there isn’t anything to update you on – more regularly. We have taken that feedback on board, and I will do my best to share what I can right now.
This year’s Summer League in Las Vegas was the busiest trip we have ever taken. It consisted of basketball games and meetings back-to-back, and seven days was not enough. We met with players, Australian and international agents, as well as with other NBL clubs and staff.
Of course, it was important we supported Alex Higgins-Tisha and Taran Armstrong, and it was very cool to see them suiting up for the Golden State Warriors together. Alex’s recent NBA experience will obviously be outstanding preparation for his 2025-26 season in orange, as we continue to follow Taran’s career with interest and pride.
The Club has purposely taken it’s time to recruit the best team we can. We have a vision to "win it all" this season – that will be very clear when the competition begins. Those that attended the Town Hall (or watched it on Youtube) might remember, I said: “when the cards start to fall, they will all start to fall very quickly.”
This isn’t an announcement, but I am pleased to share that is exactly what is happening right now. We have very exciting news in the pipeline, but there are a few boxes to tick first and a lot happening behind-the-scenes. It hasn’t just been a long off-season for our fans; we have all had to be very patient – it’s been the strategy. But I am confident the “white noise” of this off-season will be a distant memory, very soon.
As I keep referring to it, I do want to thank those that attended our first Town Hall once again. It was really rewarding to chat with so many of you face-to-face, and based on the response, it is something we will look to do again in the future. We are a small but strong community and coming together in a productive and positive forum is the way forward.
Coming up soon, members will have the chance to purchase their two-game packs for the Ignite Cup. We are pleased to offer members the chance to purchase their seats ahead of the general public, with a generous discount. These will be available from 1 August. There is no obligation to purchase these games – and seats will be released on 22 August 2025. Please ensure you are receiving comms from our membership team as hosting these additional fixtures will be a new process for us, too.
The front office is still selling 2025-26 memberships and it would be remiss of me not to add that members will receive the benefit of discounted Ignite Cup games PLUS early access tickets to a pre-season game held in Cairns next month. That’s another announcement in the pipeline, but you can save the date: 24 August 2025.
Remember, keep an eye on your inbox and our socials, as the announcements are imminent - and they will be worth the wait!
Until then,
Troy Stone
