The Kenfrost Homes Cairns Taipans is the only the national sports team of Cairns and competes in the NBL - one of the best basketball leagues in the world. The community-owned club has been one of North Queensland’s most identifiable brands since 1999 and continues to play a pivotal role throughout the region both on and off the court.
The Taipans are seeking a Graphic Designer that is ready to bring creativity, digital expertise and visual storytelling for Cairns’ only national sports team. This is a rare opportunity for an early-career professional looking for the chance to step up and lead the visual identity of a high-profile sports team that operates in a unique landscape (that some may describe as paradise!) as well as it's sub-brands including TAG (Taipans Academy - Girls) and TIP (Taipans Indigenous Program).
The ideal candidate will be skilled in graphic design, with a passion for sports social media, digital marketing and sports branding.
As the Graphic Designer, you will be an integral part of a small team to produce visually engaging work across all Taipans channels, from socials to in-stadium signage, from print assets to OOH campaigns.
Key Responsibilities:
· Design and produce content for the Cairns Taipans, executing strategy across branding, marketing, and digital content
· Create high-quality graphics, illustrations, and layouts for a variety of mediums, including print, digital, and social media
· Collaborate with the marketing and media team to develop and deliver design projects that support the team's goals and objectives
· Ensure all designs are consistent with the team's brand guidelines and messaging
· Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends and technologies
· Assist in managing multiple projects simultaneously, as well as work in a live sport environment (game days etc.)
· Assist in photo and video shoots, as well as content and promotional activations
Qualifications:
· Diploma or Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field
· Minimum of two years’ experience in graphic design, with a portfolio of work
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills
· Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
· Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
· Passion for basketball and sports marketing
· Previous apparel or sports merchandise design experience will be well regarded
Benefits:
· A collaborative, fun, supportive environment in a small and dynamic team
· Opportunities for professional growth
· Relocation assistance
· Above Award salary packaging reflecting the nature of the role
