The CQUniversity Cairns Taipans will have their upcoming home games on Saturday 8 January and Tuesday 11 January postponed, due to league health and safety protocols.
The Taipans have received positive test results from the team today, and will need to be isolated for the next seven days.
In addition to players that cannot suit up due to injury and close contacts, there are not enough players to field a team in Round 6.
Taipans CEO Mark Beecroft said that while it may cause some inconveniences, he knows the Taipans fanbase will understand.
“This is the world we are living in right now, and we knew at some point during the season we would be impacted. We must be prepared to be flexible and put health and safety as the top priority for not just our playing group, but all our patrons," he said.
“It’s a shame to reschedule these games, but they will be played at a later date and I’m sure our fans and sponsors will understand and accommodate that.”
Taipans HQ will be offering a full credit for any single-game ticket holders for the games and remains open during usual business hours.
