Coach Forde has selected former Taipan Jonah Antonio, Sam McDaniel, Jarrad Bairstow, and Perth’s Jesse Wagstaff for the Games. The Wildcats veteran secured a 3x3 Silver Medal at the 2022 Commwealth Games, after Australia fell to England by just one point.
To open the 2026 edition, Forde and the Gangurrus will face their toughest opponent on Friday night when they face New Zealand. Last competing against the Tall Blacks at the Asia Cup in April, the Gangurrus lost 16-21 to the eventual Gold medallists.
With both countries entering the tournament as two of the highest-ranked men’s teams, their battle will both open the 3x3 schedule and sit as one of the earliest fixtures for the Games, that will span over 11 days.
The Gangurrus will play three games on the opening day, also facing Nigeria and Scotland before closing out the opening stages against Guyana and the Cayman Islands on Sunday night.
Entering the knockout stages from 28 July, the top side from their group of six will progress straight to the semi-finals, with second and third battling in a play-in game to join them. The action will begin in Glasgow on 23 July, with all games available on the Seven Network and 7plus.
