The Kenfrost Homes Cairns Taipans will be well represented at the 2025 FIBA 3x3 Champions Cup this week, following Basketball Australia’s announcement of Adam Forde as interim Head Coach of the men's Gangurrus and the Cairns-influenced line-up.
Outgoing Cairns Head Coach Forde has listed Taipans trio Alex Higgins-Titsha, Jonah Antonio, and Dillon Stith to join former Taipans development player Josh Davey to represent Australia for the tournament in Thailand.
Coincidentally, gangurru is a name that originated from Far North Queensland. The Guuga Yimithirr people gave this name to the eastern Grey Kangaroo.
The Champions Cup will take place from 14-16 March at CentralWorld Square in Bangkok, and will feature the world's top 16 3x3 basketball teams from a total of 12 countries.
Australia will compete in Pool B, with group play beginning on 14 March.
The men’s division will start their campaign against France (8:50pm AEST) this Friday. They’ll return to the court on 15 March, facing Thailand (7:50pm AEST) followed by a clash with the United States (10:25pm AEST) to wrap up the group stage.
The top two teams from the two pools advance straight to the semifinals on 16 March.
