The Kenfrost Homes Cairns Taipans announce the following players will be unavailable for the Round 1 road trip to South East Melbourne:
Waardenburg sustained a rotational injury to his right ankle last week at training. The high-grade tear required surgery, which was successful. His return-to-play date is scheduled for 13 December, in Round 12.
Mawot Mag injured his toe at the NBL Blitz and has not made the road trip. He is expected to be available for the Taipans’ first home game on 26 September, in Round 2.
Andrews is due to arrive in Australia next week.
Nominated replacement player Lachlan Barker will replace Waardenburg in his absence, while development players Lloyd McVeigh and Jed Richardson will also suit up against the Phoenix.
