Award-winning former The Cairns Post basketball reporter Simon Cameron has joined the taipans off-court team as a contributor to the website.

Cameron has a long history in reporting basketball, having been the Post’s inaugural Taipans reporter. He won numerous QABL media awards for basketball coverage of the Marlins and Dolphins between 1998 and 2002 as well as a North Queensland Media Award in 2000 for an exclusive story on the NBL announcing Cairns and Townsville as hosts of the then pre-season Blitz.

He will provide in-depth previews and reviews of all Taipans matches this season as well as his weekly ‘The Dribble’ column which will feature tidbits and rumours from around the league.

In addition, keep a look out for feature articles starting Tuesday with one on new Taipans coach Aaron Fearne.

The Taipans are planning to provide audio grabs from the press conferences of each home game this season to go with match reviews.
