Academy Program
"Excellence is not an act, but a habit."
Aristotle
"When I played with Michael Jordan on the Olympic team, there was a huge gap between his ability and the ability of the other great players on that team. But what impressed me was that he was always the first one on the floor and the last one to leave."
Steve Alford
Success isn't something that just happens - success is learned, success is practiced and then it is shared.

Program History & Success
The Cairns Taipans Academy has been built on a solid foundation since its inception in 2000. The Academy has played a key role in the development of many players who have been chosen to represent teams in the NBL, NCAA I & II, NAIA I & II, Junior College, the Australian Institute of Sport and various ABA and state teams.
The program is extremely proud of the many successes of its former and coaches. We celebrate these in “Honour Roll”.
This year the Academy as part of the Cairns Taipans organization is “rebuilding” with a focus on the “Community”. The program exists due to the generosity, hard work and support of the Cairns Basketball Community, Corporate Sector, Government Departments and the General Public. Always be appreciative of the opportunity while Athletes are a Cairns Taipans Academy Athlete.
Please feel free to contact the Taipans Academy Staff if Athletes have any questions regarding the program.
